Intentions
___________________________________________
Our intention with Jolter is to have a Core Gameplay
that invites the player to try tirelessly beating his score. The aim is to recreate the competitive environment that can be found in games on arcade and to give the player satisfaction to see its level of skill increase.
The guideline is :
Create a game system putting the player to compete with himself.
We were heavily inspired by WipeOut and Trackmania.

It was difficult for us at first to figure what to do. Then, when we oriented ourself in a racing game using the "jolt", I started making some tracks using Adobe Illustrator :
This level was later put in the game as the most difficult one

This one was made to be easy, but it didn't use the jolt effectivly. Moreover, the turn in the middle was too weird for the game feel.

When our levels were finished, i started working on the Ui. The goal was to give the player precise information that can be seen without looking directly at them. To do that, i decided to use a color code. If the player is faster than before, the score will be green, if the opposite, it would be red.

One of the first version. Each checkpoint give time information to the player. Later, the Ui was on the top left of the screen, alongside medals to give a small goal to the player.

Special Thanks
